Web GIS system of surnames in the Czech Republic

Processing current and historical data of surnames in Bohemia in GIS Abstract The main objective of this work is processing current and historical data of surnames of the population of Bohemia and their subsequent comparison. For the purpose of this comparison typologically identical databases were created. The comparison of current and historical data, which were taken from "berní rula" from 1654, is performed by territorial units of judical districts from 1930 and the methods and results of earlier research by Novotný and Cheshire (2012) were used. The analysis focuses on selected surnames and compares current data with historical surnames by location quotients. The results were visualised in ArcGIS. In the conclusion of this work differences in geographical distribution of surnames in Bohemia in the present and in history are discussed. The options of beneficial uses of processed data are also presented. Keywords: surnames, berní rula, judical districts, location quotient
Project „Czech Surnames“ for lower primary school pupils

The paper is focused on possible ways of introducing lower primary school pupils to the topic of motivations of Czech surnames. Worksheets have been created to encourage children's interest in proper names and etymology in a playful and engaging manner.
Family Names, inherited Names and Nicknames in the village Tajanov

The topic of this thesis is anthroponomastics of Tajanov a village in western Bohemia. The aim of thesis is to analyze the collected proper nouns. I analysed the surnames, the names after residence and the nicknames on the basis of specialised literature. I recieved the material for the analysis from the list of voters and from the almanac to the 700th anniversary of the establishment of the village. I also used the method of exploration and found out next important information by some conversations. All the surnames, the names after residence and the nicknames are divided in the research part of the work into categories according to various aspects. I summarised the statistical evaluation of the accumulated data.
Analysis of onomastics material in Jiratice

This diploma thesis extends the bachelor thesis research that analysed whether and what characteristic features appear in ordinary language of native speaker who come from Jiratice. The goal of this thesis is linguistic analysis of official, unofficial personal names, minorplace and local names in Jiratice or in its nearby vicinity. These names are collected from written sources and from interviews with witnesses. The collected material is organized into a dictionary that analyses primarily the motivation of each name. The complex of names is also classified according to various criteria. The aim of the diploma thesis is to contribute partially to the Czech onymic research.
Family Names and Nicknames in the village of Český Rudolec

The subject of this thesis is surnames and nicknames of inhabitants of Český Rudolec. The basic material was obtained from a list of the names of local inhabitants. To get a list of nicknames, the exploratory methods were used (usually by means of an interview). The analysis of names and nicknames will be conducted using traditional classification methods. The goal of the thesis is an analysis of official and non-official names of the local inhabitants.
Surnames and Nicknames in Pacov

The thesis has been following the bachelor thesis, which engaged the onomastic analysis in town Pacov, concretely the domain of antroponomastic (last names and nicknames). Records were obtained thanks to database of registry office, next by using of interviews and by research directed to the social site Facebook. The objective is to realize the analyse in more frequently occurring last names and nicknames with consideration of their motivated origin. Analysis and classification of nicknames have been made on the basis of testimonies of citizens of Pacov and nicknameholders with the possibility to next associations. There have been incepted the complex language collection, which have surveyed the antroponomastic status of town Pacov in 2014-2017.
A Comparison of Motivation of the Most Frequent Czech and Swedish Surnames Origin

The diploma thesis is focused on the comparison of motivation and language motivation of Czech and Swedish surnames. In the theoretical part, the current situation and developement of surnames are described and motivation types of bynames which later formed surnames are defined. The practical part of the thesis introduces the method, hypothesis and results of research which was focused on dividing 500 of the most frequent Czech and Swedish surnames into groups according to motivation and language motivation. The most common among Czech surnames are those created from first names and those consisting of nature elements; the most numerous groups among Swedish surnames are composite burgher surnames with natural motifs and patronymical surnames.

This thesis focuses on linguistic analysis of official and unofficial personal names in Čenkov near Malšice. The subject matter of the research are surnames, names after residence and nicknames in the above mentioned village. I gained surnames from the list of inhabitants, names after residence and nicknames using questionnaires and dialogues. Classification as well as this antropomastic material analysis are based on study of professional literature and traditional classification procedures. The goal of this thesis is to make a survey on types of surnames, names after residence, nicknames and to contribute to onomastics of the village Čenkov near Malšice.

The topic of this thesis deals with the onomastics of the Moravian village "Láz". The main part of the exploration are the types of surnames and names after residence in Láz. The next item of interest are the nicknames appearing in the village. I got the onomastic material from the set of surnames, names by the houses and I have gained the nicknames with the help of exploratory methods through the questionnairs and dialogues. I make the analysis using of traditional clasiffication degrees. The thesis aims to make a register of official and unofficial personal names and their linguistic analysis.
